A consistent design theme has been adopted for all media related to Fukutake Hall (including the logo, signs, website and pamphlet). This design theme is intended as a visible expression of the principles behind the Fukutake Hall.
The 100-meter-long “Thinking Wall” is one of Fukutake Hall’s most notable design features, demarcating a space for the “crossroads between learning and creativity”.
In the process of creating something new, we inevitably encounter physical and conceptual barriers. Novelty is attained as the result of overcoming such barriers. Without these barriers, we might not be able to grow intellectually. The apparently expressionless wall standing before us is thus neither an enemy nor a hindrance. To the contrary, it is precisely what provides us with the opportunity to learn and advance. Whenever we encounter a barrier, we must think and thus attain the capacity to overcome it.
This is why the “Thinking Wall” has been chosen as a design theme for media related to Fukutake Hall. These media seek to inspire intellectual growth and creativity, thus supplementing the activities taking place in Fukutake Hall.
The rectangle extending horizontally represents both the physical design of Fukutake Hall and its mission as a center for creating a horizontal network among different fields of knowledge.
The three dots on the left are derived from the three dots on the “i’s” of the III’s logo. They also symbolize the goal of disseminating new knowledge from the university into society at large.
